Weekly Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report – South Florida – Week of May 20, 2026 | Don’t Tell Mom Sportfishing

Fishing this past week continued to be very productive, with a great mix of offshore and wreck fishing action. Trolling remained the most consistent pattern, especially when the Sargassum grass wasn’t too heavy.

We had some very nice Mahi-Mahi and Blackfin Tuna action in the 200–400 foot range. One of the most exciting moments of the week came while trolling a weed line when we had four bites at the same time. After an absolute chaos-filled few minutes, we managed to land all four fish — two Wahoo and two Mahi — a quadruple-header that made for an unforgettable catch.

Wreck fishing also remained fairly consistent, with some large Amberjacks mixed in and providing serious battles on heavy tackle. We also caught a few solid Barracudas throughout the week, keeping the action steady along the reef and wrecks.

For anglers looking to battle a sea monster, shark fishing continued to produce. We caught both a Dusky Shark and a Sandbar Shark, giving our guests some drag-screaming fights and memorable experiences on the water.

We even managed to catch a Sailfish while trolling in 310 feet of water north of Fort Lauderdale, proving that you never know what might show up in the spread this time of year.

Snapper fishing is also beginning to heat up for anglers looking to bring home some meat, and as water temperatures continue to rise, we expect that bite to keep improving in the weeks ahead.

Conditions varied quite a bit throughout the week, ranging from no current at times to ripping north current on other days, along with periods of south current mixed in as well. Winds also shifted throughout the week in both direction and strength, but despite constantly changing conditions, the fishing stayed productive.

Overall, it’s been another great week on the water, and there are no signs of the action slowing down anytime soon.
